One of the eternal IT questions is “how fast that thing is ”. There are some very advanced software products that dominate in niche where professional overclockers compare their… things.
And there are numerous simple and effective utilities that give you fast uncomplicated answers. HD_Speed is one of such for measuring computer storage performance.
What it does
App has simple single-screen interface. You can choose which device to scan and type of test. I advise sticking with Read and staying away from write test, any destructive actions should not be performed to satisfy curiosity.
App uses native Windows functions so supports anything as long as OS sees it as drive – hard drives, optical drives, flash drives, etc. I think it should even work with network folder mounted as drive – might be interesting experiment to try.
Developer’s site lists 184.108.40.206 as latest version, but download is actually version 220.127.116.11 release (around year later) and pointing to completely different site. Not that someone should care but I was bit confused about that when doing my research for post and decided it’s worth mention.
Tiny, simple, efficient and completely portable . Just the way I like utilities to be.
