FileHippo is software portal and of somewhat unusual kind. The motto is chasing quality instead of quantity and it is actually followed. Software seems hand-picked and includes very common (like Flash browser plugin) or very popular (like CCleaner) progs. On-site filter allows to hide beta and/or non-freeware. According to policy there are no publisher submissions taken.
Big plus is that everything is hosted on site and there are old versions available as well. There is custom Update Checker tool for those despising hard manual research. :) It’s not as exquisite as other update tools but if your choice of software intersects with that of FileHippo (which is likely) – it can be fast and handy app.
Visually site is optimized for speed. There is not much additional content (no comments, no reviews, no scores) so lots of people follow it by RSS (44K subscribers at the moment of writing). Aside form main RSS there are feeds available for each program separately.
